Kingsway Firework Display
Created by NephrosFor the last 10 years my family has always had a firework display. Myself and a group of friends put money into a pot and purchase about £600 of fireworks. As you can appreciate these have to be let off responsibly. I used to do it on a local farm but I then moved to Kingsway.
I called the Police and asked if there was any law about me letting them of on the open space by the large play area. They told me that as long as everything was done properly I was allowed to do it.
For the last two years I have done this. Only about 20 people have come (friends who contributed) but they have all said what a fantastic display it has been. The Police who came to watch last year were also very impressed not only with the display but the sensible approach we took.
I think it would be good for Kingsway to have its own firework display. I would be happy to get involved in organising it.
Any ideas or thoughts?

It’s a very nice idea. Personally I’m in favour because (well) organised displays are great for kids and families.
These type of activities and facilities will also help to build a real community spirit for Kingsway Village, making the area a much nicer place to live (and increasing the value of properties in the community).

Hi there
I just read your post and wanted to say that the Parish Council is working on having a firework display (lots of work and paper work) at the Waterwells Sport Site in Nov’.
So look out for more details nearer the time.

Hi All
Just to say Quedgeley Parish Council is looking to do a few events this year which include a community fun day, fire work show, dog show and from next week a garden competition will be launch …
All events are open to all residents of Quedgeley, Kingsway and Copelands as you all come up the parish of quedgeley ..
Any other ideas that you have give me a shout and we can have a look at them or think about them for next year

What was the outcome regarding a fireworks display for Kingsway? given we are only 8 weeks away from the day (5th of Nov)?

I’m really not certain what’s happening at the moment…
I think Bryan Claridge moved away (suddenly), so I’ve had no further news about it.
I will speak to somebody at the Quedgeley Parish Council and see if I can find out.

As far as I know, Quedgeley Parish Coucil are putitng a firework display on, which is why we were discouraged from doing so this year.
The original venue was going to be Waterwells business park which is why I thought it was a good idea, however after talking to the Parish Council lasst week it seems the venue has moved to where they held the Dog Show.
As Clive has said, Bryan Claridge has resigned as a councellor and has moved away and thus I am in the process of trying to get access to things like the noticeboards etc.

Yep… Quedgeley Parish Council will be running a firework display at Dimore II (School Lane, Quedgeley).
