Woodvale Blockade
Created by AshleyDoes anyone have any idea when all the hardcore is going to removed from Woodvale (towards the business park) so that we can use the road to go towards the Naas Lane roundabout?
It is really starting to irk me that we cant use a road that has been laid and is intended for the purpose yet we have to go on some silly detour which is about a mile just to get to a place that is about 300 yards from the estate, please somebody have some good news?

Hi Ashley,
The road is (temprarily) closed (by the developers) because of ongoing construction work on the far side of the blockade.
Whilst the business park is under construction, they will continue to prevent public access; (presumably complying with health and safety legislation whilst allowing the public to use the road, would be too expensive / troublesome)!
I’m afraid I have no idea how much longer it’s going to take, and it’s too late to contact Andy Hunter now… If you want an update contact him (details on our Kingsway Developers page)

Just a quick one on this, firstly it seems Andy Hunter has moved on and I am awaiting an email from his replacement, but it all seems a bit quiet.
Secondly, they put the original fencing up firstly due to H&S issues, but also because things were getting nicked. They took that down and let pedestrian and cycle access as a big concession to the Residents Association as we did badger them a lot about this.
Personally, I had hoped that this meant they would be getting on with work on the business park, but I haven’t seen much happening, so who knows? Unfortunately the business park is the responsibility of Robert Hitchins, and they are certainly not a “resident friendly” organisation… which is a pain!

It amazes me that a road that you cannot access has full working lights all the way along it, but still they can fix the light outside our house, which has never been in action since it was installed!!

Hi ceejaytee1979,
See my comment here about how to get this resolved.

Baz_k,
I’m told that Andy Hunter’s replacement is one Alistair Jewel / Joule (not sure of the spelling)!
Sadly he didn’t make the Community Walkabout today, so I haven’t met him yet.
I will add his contact details to the Developers page as soon as I have them.

It is Alistair Jewel, am awaiting his email back to me, but he doesn’t seem to be quick off the mark.

Hi Baz,
Nice one, thanks mate
Shame he didn’t make the walkabout today, his input / assistamce would have been
really useful.
I guess he’s busy getting up to speed or settled in.

Does anyone have a more up to date map of Kingsway than the one on this site? I have been walking around Kingsway trying to do my own in the interim. Ideas?

Hi Shane,
See my comment - here. It may be that The QUVL keep an ongoing map of the development, but I suspect not! (With so many developers working - to a great extent independantly - I don’t suppose it’s a priority for them to keep an updated map)!
Shame Google Earth doesn’t update more often (Their “current view” still shows my old car parked outside my house… and that was sold 2 years ago)
Perhaps you could get the Police to photograph it next time they fly over

Hi All,
Even my Developer can not get a reply from Andy’s replacement.
What is clear things have gone well down here since Andy left.
Grass cutting…. well shall we call it the odd light trim? 3′ from paths seems to be the norm now and when was the last time the playing field was cut? I stopped going there now as the dog gets lost in the grass.
Perhaps he had the roundabout as a leaving present together with the symbolic three trees that have since died.
The wheel clamping man seems to like to sit by the blocked road, have thought about going over it in my 4X4 for practice; at least it would save petrol going to Tesco’s!
If anyone ever gets this new chap here I would like to see him as some of the kerbstones on Thatcham Avenue are an accident waiting to happen! Wimpey can’t move them as they belong to QUVL and as the Developers meetings have also stopped, Wimpey cant get permission to move them.
…Any ideas?
Now I have lived here since day one and yes I was mad to buy a second house here on the promises made of shops and a pub (well at least there has been movement over there recently in the old barns). I would just settle for a road that does not flood and being able to get in and out of Thatcham Avenue without it being an assult course of cars and vans.

Totally agree about not getting any answers from QUVL. Have left a lot of messages and not got anything returned. Am thinking of going to their office for a face to face and see what happens

As a note: Have contacted Jackie Hall about this and will see what happens from that front.
