The Big Dark/Park
My kids, wife and I went to the big park this evening to give the kids some fresh air before bed time.
When we got there the park was quite busy with older children/teenagers.
I thought this was a very good thing as they were all not dismantling the place, shooting up, breaking bottles etc but just having "their" time in the park, so I thought it was worth giving them some positive press!
The other thing that occurred to me was that a lot of the lads were playing football and, with the nights getting darker, the street lighting isn’t really good enough for them to keep playing for long. Both my wife and I thought we could probably get some local floodlights to light the pitch, facing away from the houses so they don’t affect the residents, but provide some light to play by.

Floodlights sound a great idea! Would QUVL pay for this or would we need to contact Gloucester council? At least the kids would have to play for longer!

Now it’s the time of year when it’s dark when we are going to work and dark when we get home, I was wondering if there was any progress with the switching on of the street lighting along the footpath next to the big park?
The lights next to the CCTV are working, but the rest are just left in darkness!
I enjoy walking my dog in the park in the mornings and evenings but it would be nice to have a little light.

With regards to the lighting of the path along and around the park. Is there an update of if and when the lights will be switched on? I say this as the path is very dark and i use it early evening/ night quite regularly and it it quite eery! I notice on the other hand that the road that will link the Kingsway and Naas Lane has street lighting that is swithed on! Wheres the sense? If no one knows the answer can you suggest someone for me to contact to try and get some answers please. Thanks in Advance
