Bus Route Changes (66 Service)

Monday, August 15th, 2016

Stagecoach recently issued the following Email:

Bus Services to and from Quedgeley

Route & Timetable Changes from Sunday 4th September 2016

From 4th September we’ll be making changes to our local buses in Kingsway and Quedgeley.

On Service 12 we’ll be making minor timing changes to improve our punctuality. We’ll be running every 10 minutes on Mondays to Fridays, every 12 minutes on Saturdays and every 30 minutes in the evening and on Sundays. Buses leaving the city centre after 1900 will depart from Clarence Street (Stop A) rather than Eastgate Street.

We’ll still be running every hour to and from Dursley, but buses on this route will run as Services 60 & 62. Beyond Dursley, Service 60 will continue to Wotton-under-Edge and Thornbury, whilst Service 62 will serve Berkeley and run on to Bristol city centre. There will be faster weekday peak journeys on Service X62 calling at Aztec West, Filton College, Abbey Wood MoD and UWE. All journeys serve every stop on route and replace Belles Express which will no longer run.

Services 60 & 62 will use a new route in and out of Gloucester, serving Gloucester Quays and Waterwells Drive (for Hunts Grove) and running via the A38 Quedgeley bypass to Bristol Road for the city centre. These buses will no longer stop in Quedgeley or run via Stroud Road, but connections can be made using our frequent Services 9 and 12.

In response to customer feedback we’re making significant changes to Service 66 to improve our punctuality and better serve the Kingsway estate. All buses will continue to call at Waterwells Park & Ride and then run via Rudloe Drive and Valley Gardens to Copeland Park and the city centre. Return journeys from the city towards Quedgeley and Stroud will serve Thatcham Avenue rather than Valley Gardens.

Buses on Service 66Q will continue beyond Waterwells P&R via Asda to Quedgeley Matalan using the underpass on Valley Gardens. This will retain a link every 30 minutes during the daytime from Kingsway to Asda and Quedgeley shops.

We will continue to run peak journeys to and from Fretherne, Frampton-on-Severn and Longney on Service 66F. These buses will run direct between Field Court Drive and Waterwells P&R in each direction.

Services 66E and 66S will continue beyond Gloucester to Stonehouse and Stroud via Ebley or ‘The Stanleys’ as now but to revised times.

Our new routes and stops are detailed in the map on this leaflet. Full timetable details will be available shortly online and on our buses. [Editors Note: The September 2016 Timetables are HERE]
