A38 Cross Keys Roundabout Closure (Sept 2016)

Sunday, September 18th, 2016

Recently received from AMEY PLC:

Dear Sir/Madam,

A38/B4008 Cross Keys Rbt, Hardwicke – Our reference: 22006293

We will shortly be undertaking carriageway resurfacing works at the above location. The work is programmed to take place from the 26th Sept till the morning of the 30th September (4 nights).

The road width and type of works dictate that, to ensure the safety of both the travelling public and our workforce, the road will be subject to a Road Closure from 19:00-06:00

Access for vehicles during the works will be extremely limited due to the nature of the work and the size of machinery to be used. It would be a great help if you could avoid parking your vehicle within the works area (*red line on attached plan*).

Both occupiers and drivers are asked to be patient throughout this period of disruption, we will of course make every effort to minimise the inconvenience.

We would further take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your co-operation. Should you have any queries please contact us on 08000 514514.

Kind regards
Becky Lane
Customer Service Operator, Amey

Exiting from Kingsway via the main entrance, turn left on A38. This is the 2nd roundabout you will encounter, at the end of the Quedgeley Bypass, where the A38 meets the B4008 (Hardwicke Road). With exits for the Stonehouse/M5 road, the A38 to Bristol, the Quedgeley Bypass (A38) and the Hardwicke road, it also has a petrol station and McDonalds restaurant off the far side.

(*) The “Red Line” they talk about (no parking) is every road within the immediate vicinity of the roundabout; therefore should not impact any Kingsway residents, although it will of course impact everybody travelling in that direction between 7PM and 6AM on the dates shown.

I think there are diversions in place, but I wouldn’t go into Gloucester.

I think the easiest way back to Kingsway would be:

Exit M5 at Junction 12 (as usual) but take the B4008 (towards Stonehouse).
Turn left opposite the garden centre towards Haresfield (I believe the road is called “Stonehouse”).
At the road end ‘T junction’, turn right on Haresfield Lane.
Follow past Haresfield (sharp left turn) and continue until you come to the Naas Lane turn on the left.
    Follow Naas Lane into Waterwells.

So does this mean I have to drive on the M5 northbound to junction 11 and come in to Quedgeley from Gloucester? That’s some detour!!!
