Our family recycle lots via (Tescos recycling bins or roadside collection), so we only need our bin emptying once a fortnight, if that. Any Council Tax discount? I doubt it!

Hi Baz,

You may be right about web-based information, but in fairness the Council Refuse website is a particularly bad example!

To quote my previous Refuse article once again:

When I originally made this post, I found several useful resources on their site...
Gloucester Refuse Collections - Bank holiday arrangements.
Gloucester Refuse Collections - Normal collection days for your street (including garden waste collection).
Gloucester Refuse Collections - A-Z of what you can recycle (and where).
Originally I linked to them all, but when I looked again a few months later (for Christmas details), all links were broken!
So all pages were moved or removed without setting up any forwarding mechanism… (how helpful is that)!

Hi Clare,

It seems the Council are somewhat confused on this issue

In March 2008, I wrote an article about Kingsway Rubbish Bin Collections and Recycling which includes:

According to the Gloucester.gov.uk website, although collections are a day later for most bank holidays, they will take place as normal on Good Friday

This year - once again - the collection was due to be done on Good Friday, but evidently they only managed part of the Village, so they returned on Saturday to finish up

On the Council website, it was fairly clear that the Friday collection would be as normal, but the following week would be one day later. This is how it was done last year. However this is the problem with so many things going web-based, it is thought that if you put information just on a webpage, that everybody can and will check it. The only reason I did was beacuse we were thinking of going away and wanted to be sure.

When we moved into Kingsway and requested our bins I also requested a list of collection dates, only to be told that collection day is Friday and - if there is a bank holiday - it will always be one day later.
Our collection was on the Saturday following Good Friday so seems to bear that out. I live at the far end of Woodvale but would think this should apply across Kingsway shouldn't it?

Confused!

Regards Good Friday, the bins were emptied in some parts of Kingsway, 'cos I spoke to them whilst around as I thought they wouldn't be collecting 'til the day after, due to the Bank Holiday.
