Hi Shane,

When we received our wheelie bin, it came with a leaflet which said that the bins wouldn't be collected unless the lids are closed and I know that one of my neighbours (Thatcham Avenue) has found her bin wasn't emptied when the lid was slightly open (around 4")!

In addition, the Gloucester City Council has an article on theor website about the Introduction of a closed-lid policy to all households and - on their Refuse and Recycling page they say:

all refuse must be contained within one wheeled bin with the lid properly closed and no additional bags of rubbish placed next to the bin. This policy has encouraged more people to recycle and thus has reduced the amount of rubbish we are sending to landfill.

So - according to all available information, the "error theory" is incorrect!

Has anyone had a note saying they will refuse to take your wheelie bin (one of 2) if the lid is not closed?
I questioned this with Glos Council only to be told this was an error and did not apply to my road! so does this mean that it applies to others?

I will report to The Police.
Of course I can't be 100% sure exactly where he lives, but his bin was there on Valley Gardens, (I wouldn't throw someone else refuse).

Thanks for all your responses!

And the flip side side is that Timber like that, which has probably been discarded by builders is still of value and use. I have made use of discarded bits to make my workbench and shelves in the garage. Recycling is much better than mindless throwing!

Hi Claudia,

That is disgusting!

If you're certain about where he lives, you should report the incident to The Police (0845-0901234).

Fly-Tipping is a serious offence and should be reported whenever possible imho...
There's been far too much of it going on around Kingsway Village and we need the Police to stop it, but they can't do anything unless we help them to identify the culprits.
