Not at all, it’s my pleasure (I live on Thatcham too). I’ve been here for more than 18 months now and I access my parking via Chivenor and Kinloss… I’m about sick of wrecking my tyres!

I agree with you, there should be no construction traffic on Thatcham now, so there’s no real reason why the occupied part can’t be finished and the pavements could certainly be dealt with… We have a huuuuuge puddle outside of our gate which makes it ridiculous during (and after) wet weather; the kids (and us) can’t get out on foot without getting drenched

I must say that I am disapointed that Thatcham Avenue is not on the current list. I do not fully understand QUVL’s reasoning, as heavy plant and construction traffic is not meant to be routed via Woodvale, so the only damage that could be done is that caused by the mis-routing of the construction traffic (Bryant??!)

I wonder if QUVL would consider surfacing the road from Woodvale to, say, the two ‘traffic calming’ islands between the Horse Chesnuts? At least that way the sub surface would not break up any further, and the pathways could also be completed.

As I write this, we have had another day of rain, with severe weather forcasted (just like last year, eh?) and the road is badly flooded again. Surely this causes more damage, which will require more money spent longer term.

I had this reply from Trevor Cribb (QUVL):

"Kinloss Drive, Chivenor Way, Halton Way, Shawbury Avenue and Digby Green? These roads are to be finished by the developers fronting these streets - so for progress there would need to be discussion with each of them.

Thatcham Avenue is a main route for which the Kingsway consortium as a whole are responsible - that is a little way off completion. Our project manager is waiting for QUVL Board approval to spend the money for the works and for Bryant Homes to advise when they expect completion. It is important money is not spent putting down the wearing course only for it to be damaged within a short time."

As a side note, I do see that there is work being undertaken around Kinloss Drive to raise the inspection chamber covers and drain grids. Hopefully this is an indication that surfacing will commence shortly.
