New To Kingsway

Created by hat.bratpack

Hello,

I have been having a look around your site, it is great I am so glad I found it, everyone seems so friendly.

I move to the area in 2 weeks and have been living out in Europe for the last 3 years so I know absolutely nothing about any of the surrounding area or schools etc, and have been unable to find the street we will be living in on any maps online (I’m assuming its because its a new build)! The street name is Goose Bay Drive.

Can anyone tell me how far Beaufort School is from here?
Is there access through the wooded area, as I dont drive?

Also has anyone else has any problems getting their children into Kingsway School? I love the sound of the school but as of yet have been refused a place on the grounds its full to its limit :( …but have been told to appeal.

    Hi hb,

    Thanks for joining in :)

On our Maps Page there are 3 local maps; the first 2 from Google (who are a little slow to update) and the 3rd from openstreetmap.org, which is updated by the public much more regularly.

If you look at the larger openstreet.org map (click this link), you will see Goose Bay Drive on the right.
You can also see Beaufort School (top centre).
From Goose Bay Drive you can travel down Brize Avenue and cross over (on foot or pushbike) into Tuffley (Chatsworth Avenue) and from there you can easily get to Beaufort School.
I’m guessing but it looks to be about a 15 minute walk :)

Kingsway School is over-subscribed in many classes but there are spaces (depending on the childs age), so it’s probably worth appealing.

Good luck with the move and welcome to Kingsway :D

    Clive

Re’ your question about Beaufort School, and the access from Kingsway:
Yes it’s easy to get to, about a 15 minute walk through the back of the estate.
If you cannot get into Kingsway school try Fieldcourt or Beech Green, both a walk away and good schools.

Now living in Kingsway and I have found the walkway to Beaufort, thanks :)
I have succesfully got my son into Kingsway and he is due to start after Easter.
Now just need to make a few friends in the area.

    Hi Hat.bratpack,

Like you, I am moving to that street next week after time abroad (probably the same situation)!

Could you please confirm for me what the postcode for that street is as we have been given two!

    Many thanks

    Hi MoneC24,

As far as I can tell, there are 2 postcodes for Goose Bay Drive, as follows:

    Odd Numbered Properties: GL2 2EU
    Even Numbered Properties: GL2 2EW

So it depends on the house number.

Thanks for joining in and welcome to Kingsway :)

    Hi hat.bratpack,

Glad to hear you got the school sorted :)

I hope you’ve found a few friends by now (can’t wait for the pub’ to open)

    Hi MoneC24,

My postcode is GL2 2EU and I live in an odd number.
When do you get here? I have been waiting for someone to move in. I’ve been here for a month and still have no neighbours!
I won’t post my house number, but I will look out for you!
Are you by any chance the ppl related to Pete Wallace?
