HGV’s Cutting Through Kingsway

Created by KEVGEE

Good evening all,

I’ve began to notice the level of HGV’s cutting through the village to deliver to the shops because they can’t be bothered to use the ‘construction’ Road.

On two occassions now I have seen Warburtons using Thatcham Ave, to save time delivering to Tesco, and on both occassions I have contacted Warburtons RDC to mention to them what their drivers are doing.

It may sound petty, but how long is it going to be until one of these 16tonne lorries “saving time” hits parked cars or even a cyclist/predestrian? As both times they haven’t been hanging around.

My reasons for bringing this matter to the forum is this matter is escalating as the latest vehicle using this route was a Banks Brewery wagon!

Could we not make Woodvale/Thatcham Ave a 7.5tonne weight limit? Because what could be next, a 40ft Artic ploughing it’s way down through Thatcham Ave?

So Barry could it be looked into that we have a weight limit put on these roads without the “except for deliveries” notice?

Just a straight 7.5 tonnes would do the trick?

Regards,
Kevgee

Although I agree it is annoying – however it’s worth remembering the road on the other side (Rudloe Drive aka the Construction Road) is going to be residential too. The lorries will have to get in some way.

Talking about Rudloe Drive, what is currently being built on the plot of land behind Tesco? Will this area all be part of the business park or is this area going to have more properties on it?

All the plans are on the Council Website – but it is a bit hard to navigate! The area where the field used to be is going to be sports fields. The area where they are building is housing up to the drainage ditch, business park after.

A good place to start is here – which has most of the planning applications associated with Kingsway.

The most interesting bits are the Outline Appoval one (if you look under documents you can see site plans for each bit).

Here is the application for Framework plan 4 – which is the bit behind Tesco.
