Created by Baz_kFolks,
The Next open meeting is:

Start Time: 1930h
The Draft Agenda at the moment is:

- Issues raised since last meeting
- Responses from last meeting
- Guest Spot: Ishmail Ali – Oxbode Housing Association
- Christmas Event
- Work Done To Date
- Parking Problems and Solutions
- Open Floor For Issues (See notes on this section below)
- Open Floor For Positives
- Date Of Next Meeting
- Meeting Close
The “Open Floor” will be a portion of the meeting where any resident can raise an issue that needs to be take further by the Association. Any person can ask to raise an issue. This needs to be clear and consise. The Chair will then ask the floor if there are any objections to the issue been addressed and if there are none then it will be minuted and taken as an action. If there is an objection, then this will be heard and then a vote taken to see if it is to be addressed.
The “Open Foor For Positives” is to get a vibe from residents about what we like about Kingsway and what positive things the Association can do to improve community spirit etc.
If you want to add any specific items to the Agenda, please email them to kingswayra@googlemail.com or in an envelope clearly marked with Residents Association and for my attention, to: 70 Thatcham Avenue, by Wednesday 8th October, so I can at least try and get some form of response for you.
Cheers,
Barry.

Hi Baz,
If time permits I would like to see a discussion on solutions to the parking debates that have been raging. I believe this could a very real win for the RA.
However I would hasten to add that it would need to be tightly facilitated to ensure we do in fact discuss a solution and not the problem itself…
Cheers,
BD

Hi Baz,
Please add a spot in the agenda for Ishmail Ali of Oxbode Housing Association.
He contacted me today and I’m going to meet with him at 10:30 Monday morning (if you’re free you’re welcome to join me).
I’ll speak to you about it before Friday – I’ve taken the liberty of adding it in your (above) agenda… (You’ll thank me for it later – lol).

Hi
Just a quick note about the Residents Association… There seems to little/no feedback from the meetings.
I agree that minutes are online for the first meeting but nothing on the subsequent two meetings. I await the reply "if you want to know what is happening then attend", however my wife did attend the first meeting but due to prior commitments has not been able to attend meetings 2 and 3.
If the RA is to have any credibility it must be seen to be representing the people and also informing them of its representations. If it fails to do this it is not a "Residents Association" any more!

Hi mildenhall,
No smart comments about attending from me; we all have other commitments which make these things difficult.
We are awaiting the minutes from these meetings.
Our Secretary had a really busy month just after the 2nd meeting (he was – unexpectedly – abroad for most of it and returned just in time for the last meeting)… In addition, there were a lot of points covered during meeting 2 which included a heck of a lot of follow-up activity. Taken together with the number of subjects covered in (and followed up since) meeting 3, getting the minutes up-to-date and published is – no doubt – a bit of a nightmare!
After the first meeting I posted with a list of topics discussed but didn’t do so after meetings 2 & 3 for reasons given above… We are pursuing a whole host of issues.
I personally have had an average of 2/3 meetings per week on matters arising from the meetings or pertaining to Kingsway Youths and the Residents Association over the last 3 weeks and have several more scheduled over the next few weeks (without including my activities as the Kingsway representative the on the Police Neighbourhood Panel) and at least 2 of my colleagues are also involved with Neighbourhood Watch…
For these reasons, we are considering trying to expand the committee (arranging/attending meetings, following up issues and dealing with other local issues arising, plus arranging and delivering leaflets etc is turning into a lot of work for a small group)!
With that said, your comments are valid. I expect the minutes will be issued soon and I apologise on behalf of the Committee for the delay(s)

I attended the very first meeting but unfortunately due to holiday, was unable to make the second and work commitments stopped me from coming to the last one.
As the Association is still in it’s infancy, there will be a lot of issues for the Committee members to try and deal with, hence the delay putting minutes onto the website, which I do understand. I wonder if it would be possible to post a date (if arranged) for the next meeting so that we can get it into our diaries now?
May I suggest that you ask for people to commit to a short period of time to help out the committee? This way they can be contributing and at the same time gives them time to decide if they would like to be on the committee. Any help is better than none.
You are doing a grand job but there are only so many hours in the day; I’m sure there are a few more people in Kingsway who can help the Association.

Hi cac,
Yesterday I received an email from our chairman (Baz_k) who has been away working (USA). He suggested we (the committee) meet this week to agree a date for the next full meeting (and to discuss progress on some issues etc)… If we can find a mutually convenient date to get together we will also discuss your suggestion.
Thanks for your support
