Hi All,
Things are progressing well with the organisation of the ‘Big Lunch’.
We are still looking for volunteers to help on the day… We need people to help with the following:
We don’t expect people to help for the whole day, just an hour or so would be great… Whatever you can do – remember it is on Sunday 18th July 2010 from 12pm-4pm (approx’).
Please leave a post on here if you are able to help in anyway with our village event.
Thanks in advance from the Social Committee of the Residents Association.

Hi,
I can probably spare a few hours that day to help out (not sure how though)!
Also I do balloon arches columns etc when I have my kids parties, and have
loads of spare balloons left from last party I did, so could probably make 2 6ft balloon columns to decorate the area if thats any use to you

Thanks

Yes Clive’s welcome to pass my email address on to you.
I look forward to hearing from you.
May 25th, 2010 at 10:15 am
hat.bratpack – Thank you, I will get your details from Clive.
Amanda – I think I know how to get hold of you already! If I’m mistaken, can I get your details from Clive too?
Thanks for the offer.
Organisation for the event is coming along quite nicely. The committee met last night to discuss things again. For those who have offered to help, we will be sending out invitations to our next committee meeting . This will give you a chance to meet the committee and choose your ‘job’ for the event.
Watch out for it in your email inbox in the next few weeks.
Thanks everyone.

To all Kingsway Villagers,
We are running a ‘chocolate tombola’ at the big lunch event on Sunday 18th July.
We are looking for people to donate chocolate bars (standard sized Mars, Twix, Aero, Double Decker etc etc) for this stall.
Please deliver any donations to Barry Kirby (70, Thatcham Avenue) before Friday 16th July. Alternatively, leave a post on here and a member of the committee will arrange to collect them from you.
If every house in Kingsway donated 1 chocolate bar, there would be 1500 chocolate bars to win… Mmmmmmmm!!
Please spread the word to your neighbours.
Thanks for your support.

I notice on the colouring competition that you have to enter a school age.
Is this only restricted to children who attend school or can younger children enter?

Thank you for your support… Keep spreading the word… And pray for no rain!
Many thanks

Good evening all!
Just a reminder that the deadline for the colouring competition is tomorrow. Please ensure that entries are submitted to the teachers at Kingsway School or dropped through Barry Kirby’s letterbox at 70, Thatcham Avenue. Good luck to all the children
Youth Glouestershire will also be attending to provide fun activities/entertainment for the older children/teenagers (not sure what they like to be called LOL)!
Emma – Thanks for your comment. I had made contact with the NTC but unfortunately, they did not get back to me
If you have links with them, please could you ask them to get in contact with me again as I am unaware of them attending. Thanks
July 15th, 2010 at 6:42 am
My partner is a leader at the NTC, if you can email me a contact number and I will get him to give you a call this evening.
Is there someone on here you can get my email address from? If so thats fine and I will pass your details to my ‘better’ half and have him contact you!
July 15th, 2010 at 9:53 pm
Hi Emma
I did ask the webmaster to give me your email address, though while waiting, the lady from the NTC responded to my email. Thanks for your help. See you Sunday

I think it was a wonderful day and all of the volunteers were brilliant.
It would be great to see more things like this in the future.
Big well done and thank you to everyone!

Yesterday all the months of planning and hard work by the social committee of the Residents Association paid off… Everything went to plan!
We had a great day at the Kingsway Big Lunch. The stalls/attractions were fun, everyone enjoyed having their picnics, we got to meet new people and it didn’t rain!
A big THANK YOU goes to many: The Villagers and their friends/families for coming and supporting our first big event, the people who donated chocolate bars for the tombola, the businesses who donated raffle prizes, the children for their fantastic colouring and the team who made it all happen.
Thank you to those of you who have already made a comment on here, we’re glad that you enjoyed the day too. Please let us know if there are any improvements we could make or if you have any new ideas/contacts to make the events better for all.
Please continue to spread the word about this website as it seems so many of you at the big lunch use this site as an information point. We will be emailing those of you who signed up to our information list, if you would like to be on the list, please let us know that you are happy for the webmaster to give us your email address for that purpose.
So THANK YOU KINGSWAY for helping us to make our first event a success… Onwards and upwards as they say
PS: Photos to follow soon… Some are on the Kingsway Residents Facebook page already, why not have a look?

I’m having fun here today… I still haven’t finished!
The raffle prizes were drawn at the Big Lunch. Most people were there to collect their prize and those who weren’t, I rang on Sunday evening to arrange to drop the prizes off today.
Similarly, the competition winners were announced too. The children who won the colouring competition will receive their prize via the school if they were not there on Sunday.
Congratulations to all who won and thanks to all who entered / bought tickets.

My hat goes off to all the members of the Residents Association Social Committee for all their hard work and I’d also like to thank all those who came along for making it such a huge success… It was a fantastic day.
I’ve added the Big Lunch 2010 Picture Gallery.
Thanks to all those who contributed pictures. If you have additional pic’s you’d like me to add to the gallery please send them by email (available on our Contact Us page).
I’m looking forward to: The Big Lunch 2011
