Local Kingsway Councillor Jackie Hall will be attending this meeting.

Just to add to this, the Posts available are:

    Chair
    Secretary
    Treasurer
    Press Secretary
    Social Secretary
    General Committee Member (*5)

Please don’t be shy, if you think you can contribute please put yourself up. I have already received 3 nominations from our neighbours. Some current committee members are standing down having put a lot of time and energy into it, and would like to pass the mantle onto someone else.

If you just want to ask any questions about what is involved, then please do drop me a line.

Unfortunately, the Election evening has had to be moved to Tuesday 23rd November – Still in the Kingsway Community Centre at 1930h

  3. tony Says:

If there are not enough volunteers to constitute a committee, does the association close?

  4. tony Says:

Can the Secretary ensure that minutes are properly recorded for this event, unlike the previous meeting which failed to record any votes, actions and questions?

I will attend the next meeting and propose that the minutes were not an accurate record of the 20 August meeting if not corrected.

  5. Baz_k Says:

Tony – In answer to the specific question about number of volunteers, then the committee can run with positions left open. This is, to my mind, preferable that the association continues rather than closing.

As for the comment about the minutes, they are not a verbatim word for word transcript, but they capture, as best they can, the issues raised and the discussions topics.

  6. Baz_k Says:

Just a reminder that the nomination period closes on the 5th November, which is 8 days time.

We have had a number of nominations so far, but there are still spaces avaliable,
In particular, there have been no specific nominations for:

    Chair
    Press Secretary
    Social Secretary

If you feel you would be able to contribute to these positions, please do think about putting yourself forward. If you want to know more about the positions, please do get in touch.

    Cheers

    Barry

    Residents Association Minutes

Why have the last residents’ association meeting minutes failed to record any of the comments and discussion made at the meeting from 20 August?
Instead, we have a record of comments made by Baz and Fred but no questions or responses. Quite simply, this is not good enough. If residents take the time to express their views and opinions then they should be recorded and actioned.
There was extensive discussion about car parking at the meeting, and an action taken to review the current restrictions to provide the way forward.

This was the mandate for the association to discuss the issue with the council and kingsway village, but no record of that action has been recorded.

Please ensure that minutes are accurately recorded, that votes when held are recorded and that actions agreed are formally acknowledged.

    Otherwise, just dont bother.

  8. Clive Says:

    Hi Tony,

I believe Baz_k has already responded on this point; however I can see that the meeting minutes for August 20th do mention some comments from residents.

I don’t recall any discussion taking place on this subject during the August meeting, nor did I mention anything in my meeting notes, but I do recall that the main discussion about car parking and restrictions took place in the previous meeting (14th May) and was recorded in the meeting minutes, as well as in my summary.
The upshot was that QUVL would liaise with the Highways Dep’t to decide on the best solution and that the lines would be repainted.
There was a further post here which outlined plans to paint the lines on 4th, 5th, 6th August. The job was not completed – in fact there was a post in that thread from Thatcham Resident – which explained that the contractor had let the QUVL down and not finished the job.
As Andy Smith was away on holiday on August 20th, we have yet to learn when the job will be finished (or what the actual plans are).

As for the final comment, please remember that this is a voluntary organisation. If you are dissatisfied with the quality of the minutes, perhaps you should volunteer for the post of RA Secretary during the forthcoming elections.

  10. Baz_k Says:

Nominations are now closed. Thanks for all those who have put themselves forward.

All please note that the AGM is on the Tuesday and not a Friday and also unfortunately Councillor Jackie Hall will not be able to make it due to the change of day, but she hopes to make another one in the new year.

Look forward to seeing you there.

    Cheers

    Barry

  11. Mclovin Says:

Will we get to see the list of nominee’s prior to the AGM etc?

  12. Baz_k Says:

Depends on if there is an election of if we have just enough volunteers for posts.
But there will be an agenda posted in any case.

  13. Mclovin Says:

Cool, may even come up for this one if I am in Glos’.
If you need anything carrying or any protection walking to the centre let me know?

  14. Baz_k Says:

    Hi All,

The Lines have been closed, and the Votes have been counted and verified.

There have been exactly 10 nominations for the Committee, and therefore at the AGM there will not be an actual Election.

The committee for 2010/2011 is as follows:

    Barry Kirby Chair
    Kimberley Secretary
    Tony Bowden Treasurer
    Morwenna Grindle Press Secretary
    Laura Jude Social Secretary
    Tracey Hodgson General Member
    Clive Barton General Member
    Aron Townsend General Member
    Steve Brookes General Member
    Chris Saturley General Member

  15. Baz_k Says:

The AGM will now consist of :
    -Overview of the year
    -Police Presentation on SARA plan
-Progress review by QUVL (Including Future Plan)
    -Community Centre
    -Anticipated activities in 2011

    Cheers
    Barry

  16. Clive Says:

    Hi Folks,

    Two final points to mention:

    1. Due to the rearranged date, Councillor Jackie Hall was unable to attend.
    2. The meeting overview (NOT the minutes) has been posted here.
