Cat Accident

Created by tog

I would like to report seeing a white and brown cat being hit by a car at 10am this morning.

Sadly the car did not stop and the cat was fatally injured :(

As I went out to move it from the road, a lady pulled up in a car and together we put it into a bag and I think she said she had phoned the vets and they advised her to bring it to them.

    Hi Tog,

It’s very sad when this happens, but ultimately (I think) it’s better to know than to keep hoping that the cat will return.

I hope the victims family has seen this now and thank you for posting this information.

    Hi Miss_Lane,

Yes it is sad and does seem cruel, but it’s also possible that the driver was unaware, or that they simply panicked and didn’t stop for fear of what they might find.
There’s a similar situation recounted this post entitled How to get over hitting cat with car? where the writer says:

It must be over a year ago now i hit a cat at about 25mph going though a village, it jumped from a wall down onto the road a split second before. i’m glad i didn’t swerve as may have lost control totally (had bf in car) and wheels could have gone over the cat, and i couldn’t break hard as there was a car tailing me.
i didn’t stop after, i was overcome by fear that i’d killed it, i’ve had cats all my 20 years and my worse nightmare in the world is to see cats in pain or dead. i wish now i had stopped and i feel totally heartless for not doing so. i’d hoped maybe it might have been ok since the wheels didn’t pass over it nor did those of the car behind, it got hit by the undercarriage of the car not by the bumper.
a year on and it’s really getting me down i don’t know how to put my mind at rest =(
