Post Box
Created by Barry KirbyFolks
Andy Hunter (QUVL) has been pushing the Royal Mail to get us a Post Box.
It seems they have now done a site visit and the process of getting installed has begun. The process involves applying for maps from the various utility companies and once all received we will forward to the contractors for supply and installation of a pillar box.
They estimate it taking 3-4 months, but it will be installed in Valley Gardens, where the road and the paths meet. IE before the school road bollards if you were walking up from the little park end.
I believe normally that this would not happen until all reoads have been adopted, but pressure has been put on by Jackie Hall (Cllr) and Parmjit Dhanda MP, so it seems to have helped.
Cheers
Barry

I agree, excellent news that a post box is finally on its way… thanks to those who have helped in getting one.
Just a thought though… is that location the best one? It is a bit secluded there (not really any overlooking houses) so would this be an invitation to vandalism?
Would it be better a bit further down, nearer the School?
On the plus side though, it does mean people can pull up in their cars and post items in the box… Just a thought.

Great news and will save a lot of petrol and shoe leather driving or walking to the GPO near Tesco

Hi C18M,
Yes indeed… It’s finally “up and running” – Right opposite the School.
Thanks for posting

Seems an odd place for a post box
Also I note from the post that “but pressure has been put on by Jackie Hall (Cllr) and Parmjit Dhanda MP, so it seems to have helped” maybe they would kindly give up some more of their time for the SERIOUS issues that are affecting Kingsway and not just a postbox that we MAY get in 3-4 months.

Hi Shane,
Once the shops and amenities are built it will be a fairly central spot and the School is something of a focal point for the Village.
In fairness, Jackie Hall has also put a lot of time and effort into many other local causes and issues (the Youth Pod for example).
