It's a real shame. What made it worse is that - I attended a Police meeting recently; they have access to various social funds etc which can be used for pretty much anything which is seen to benefit the local community and they asked me if we wanted a few hundred pounds for this event... Sadly, having cancelled the arrangements which were already in place, there's no way now that we could arrange it in time... So I had to turn it down :( Fortunately, that money will be used to fund an extra Youth Services Outworker for Kingsway for (at least) 3 months... Which - I have to say - is probably better use of the cash anyway. Hopefully with more time to plan and more people to help, we will be able - as you say - to get some things in place for next year.
