Kingsway Christmas Event
Created by Barry KirbyIt is with regret that I have to inform you that we have cancelled the Kingsway Christmas Event.
It is unfortunate, as there has been a lot of good work done so far to organise this, however given issues that have arisen (and detailed elsewhere) there was little that could be done to recify matters and still put on a good quality event.
My thanks to everyone who volunteered to help, your willingness to assist is greatfully recieved and I will be contacting you with a view to what we can do next year.

I just wanted to echo Barry’s sentiments about this; we’re very unhappy about it but ultimately – events cost money (and require other commitments) and several expected sources of funding have fallen through (mostly – but not entirely – due to the Housing Market problems)
In an effort to raise some cash for the RA and future events I have now decided to donate a percentage of advertising revenue from this site towards the Village community, so hopefully we’ll have something to work with next year (unless the economy continues to nosedive, in which case advertising will suffer badly)
Having seen how much time and effort the RA committee (Richard in particular) has put into the Christmas event – and into solving ongoing issues – I can assure you that we are all very upset and frustrated by this situation

Seems as though everything is suffering at the moment! Lets hope Kingsway can arrange something for 2009. Would be great!

Hi Resident,
Yeah… It’s a real shame.
What made it worse is that – I attended a Police meeting recently; they have access to various social funds etc which can be used for pretty much anything which is seen to benefit the local community and they asked me if we wanted a few hundred pounds for this event… Sadly, having cancelled the arrangements which were already in place, there’s no way now that we could arrange it in time… So I had to turn it down
Fortunately, that money will be used to fund an extra Youth Services Outworker for Kingsway for (at least) 3 months… Which – I have to say – is probably better use of the cash anyway.
Hopefully with more time to plan and more people to help, we will be able – as you say – to get some things in place for next year.
