Hi Neighbours,

There's no doubt a problem with local youths and kids... Sadly for them they have few places to go and little to do and nowadays it seems that more and more parents need help to influence their kids in the right way as they don't seem to have the time or the inclination

The advent of the Youth Pod (now fairly imminent) is going to be a great help in this respect, as are the efforts of the youth outreach workers currently visiting Kingsway on a regular basis. (If I recollect correctly they are funded - to some extent - by Oxbode and Gloucester Housing Associations and controlled by <a href="http://www.kingsway-villagers.co.uk/equals-youth-centre/" rel="nofollow">Equals Youth Centre</a>).

Hi harleymonster,

<em>"The problem on Kingsway is the younger children, not the teenagers! My neighbour was mowing his lawn the other day and four kids aged 5-10..."</em>

I couldn't agree more.
I frequently witness children of this age on electric scooters and even petrol driven mini-motos around Kingsway without helmets and without parents in tow!
My concern is unless we sort out the 5-10 year olds now, in 5 years time they will be the "teenagers from hell" terrorising the streets of Kingsway, as they have been allowed to get away with it for so long!

I cant believe someone was mugged. I don't get it!

I work for a Lettings Company and no one wants to go near Kingsway. I also have friends that work for a local Estate Agent and they say the reputation of the place is terrible (but then they encourage this as they tell people its got problems).

I have to admit there are some terrible kids that live by the big park. I was walking my dog up the road towards the big park the other day and two kids were sat on the roof of the shed in their garden hurling abuse at me, and sorry but if my son was to use language like they did, I would make sure he was punished.

I walk my dog at 9-10pm every night and yes, sometimes I come across groups of teenagers but they dont say anything to me and I certanly do not feel afraid. To be honest I'm surprised at how quiet Kingsway is at night.

The problem on Kingsway is the younger children, not the teenagers! My neighbour was mowing his lawn the other day and four kids aged 5-10 were throwing stones at him! Why do these childrens parents let them get away with it? The problem is the parents, they should be responsible for them.

Kingsway is actually fairly quiet except for my neighbours dogs (God help me), I just cant believe it can get so bad so quick, maybe if all the parents and residents took responsibility we could sort this problem out.
If your children can't be trusted when they're out, don't let them go out!

Something needs to be done and quick!

As soon as the park was built it was vandelised, so CCTV was installed and still there are problems. Why bother asking the local youths what they want, they will only damage it and ruin it for everybody else. Sorry to be negative but it seems to me all the kids want to do is just cause damage.

Hi folks,

First of all, the Police non-emergency number (0845 0901234) is listed on the Local Contacts page (as Daisily found) and on the <a href="http://www.kingsway-villagers.co.uk/community-police-reports/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Community Police Reports</a> Page.
That number goes to the local station (Quedgeley) and is not an emergency number.

In addition, if you wish the Police to be aware that a problem exists but do not need them to attend (eg: after the event), please complete a report.

I believe that Tesco will collect the trolleys if you ring them, (I can't believe people bring them all the way here)

We rang the police but we just wish more people would. From making the phone call to the above number and the police arriving it was 10 minutes.
Once the trouble making youths realise that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated they will move on. The CCTV camera is there and working but police only look on it if icidents are bought to their attention.
