Kingsway Community Policing
Created by CliveNoting the number of posts which deal with crime and anti-social behaviour in the area, I was prompted to look into Gloucestershire Constabularies Community Policing policy and neighbourhood policing scheme for Kingsway Village (link removed as the page no longer exists… read my comment below).
Kingsway falls into the Quedgeley, Hardwicke, Elmore and Longney community for these matters and a look at their website (linked above) reveals that their priorities are:
1. To combat anti-social behaviour at Kingsway through enforcement, anti-social behaviour orders, acceptable behaviour contracts and community engagement with partners and residents to find long-term solutions.
2. To prevent and detect offences of criminal damage at Kingsway through high profile patrol, target hardening, education work with local schools and youth clubs.
There’s a lot of very useful, detailed information available on the site and they actively and enthusiastically invite local residents to “have a say and participate in the way your area is policed” with comments like “Come on residents of Quedgeley and Hardwicke, what are your priorities and concerns?”

When I made this post I contacted PS Simon Clemmett at the local community police station about the site.
Simon said that he would like to arrange a meeting between me and PCSO Helen Devlin to discuss cooperation between us in order to highlight local issues and keep us updated with local police initiatives, and would investigate the possibility of linking to our website from theirs… sadly I have heard no more on either subject.
In addition, I see that their website has been rebuilt and that the pages/information I was linking to in the above post no longer exists, so I have had to remove the links.
There still is some community policing information available on their site although at present it is minimal and I can’t link directly to the page because of the way it’s been set up.
If you want to read about Local Community Police matters related to Kingsway Village you should go to the Gloucestershire Police Website and use their on-site navigation to find it.

Last night my partner and I had to endure further late night play park problems. A group of about 10 youths were running a shopping trolley up and down the skate board ramps. It was 9.15pm and the noise it made was very loud. I called the Police and reported the problem. The Police assured me that they would try and get some one out as soon as possible. About 30 minutes later the Police called back to say that they did not have any one available.
This does not fill me with confidence. When I reported the antisocial behaviour on Sunday the police operator told me that the Police were trying to do everything that they could to combat the problem. I was told to call as many times as I felt I needed to and there would be attention paid to the problem.
My son is getting increasingly worried about the “nasty boys” who go to the play park. One thing is for certain I cannot tell him that the Police will come and sort them out.
What can we do?

Hi Nephros,
Welcome to the site and thank you for contributing
I’m very sorry to hear about your problems, it’s not pleasant having to put up with that sort of idiocy and I know from experience how frustrating it is when the Police aren’t able to find the time to help with these kind of issues
Try contacting PS Simon Clemett: Simon.Clemett@gloucestershire.police.uk or by ringing 0845 090 1234
And please keep us posted.

Nephros are you talking about the park next to the large playing field next to Lyneham Drive?
I’ve also seen the local youths occupying it at night but haven’t been disturbed. I’m not condoning their behavior but is there anywhere for the youngsters to go, (youth clubs etc)?
I do think that the police should offer more support, ie visible foot patrols during the hours when anti social behavior is likely to happen.
Was anybody woken by the police chasing through the area Saturday morning about 1am? I heard wheel spinning and high revving, saw blue lights and two police cars driving over grass and pavements chasing another vehicle.
First bit of excitement I’ve seen in the area anyway!
