Field by Orchard

Field near farm – to the side of The Orchard
Does anyone know what the fate of this field is? I see that some workmen have cut some of the bushes out and some trees (I do hope they had obtained correct permission to remove the trees), they have also sprayed some marks on the grass in preparation (I presume) to do some digging!
I always though that this field was ear-marked for some sort of sports field (cricket maybe?) and would be a shame if it was turned into something with buildings on it.
As most people are aware the field is mainly used by people walking their dogs – anyone know where else the dog walkers may roam within walking distance? I fear that if the field is not accessible then the playing field would get used and the irresponsible dog owners out there who do not clean up after their dogs will give the good owners a bad name!
I am also concerned that whatever the fate of the field is the construction work may not be sympathetic to the wildlife / nature associated in the field. The field is home to woodpeckers, rabbits and during this time of year nesting birds of prey (notably in the largest tree in that field) to name a few.
Such a shame to see the last untouched green space near us go.
