Refuse/Recycling Collection

Thursday, December 30th, 2010 by blastu2

Hoping everyone had an enjoyable Christmas.

We noted that the Refuse/Recycling Collection of last week was very limited – this was due to the extremely difficult conditions of the roads. The council had to call-off collections beyond those roads which were gritted on the development for Health & Safety reasons.

I have been assured by Mr Martin Shield’s (Director of Environmental Services) that there will be a full collection this Friday with regard to: Black Bin Refuse & Green Bin Recycling Collections. Residents are being asked, if your recycling bin’s are full – then simply use bags with items kept separated, and these will be collected too.

Ginger Kitten/Cat

Thursday, December 23rd, 2010 by Bushy

Hi,

I live in Chivenor Way.

A ginger kitten with white paws was hanging around in my garden for a couple of hours on Tuesday afternoon, eventually curling up and trying to sleep in the snow… I brought her inside so she could warm up.

She is very friendly with me but is not our cat!

She has a black collar with orange patterns.

I haven’t seen her around before.

Does any one know who she belongs to?

Thanks,
Bushy

Sports Facilities in Kingsway

Friday, December 17th, 2010 by Barry Kirby

All

During next year, the sports facilities will be developed and comissioned.
Currently in the plan is a large open area with 2 Football Pitches, a Cricket Pitch (over the top of the other two) and a Bowling Green.
Around this area will also be a "Trim-Trail" (jogging track) with the various exercise items placed around for people to use.
There will also be Tennis Courts too.

However, in discussion with QUVL and the Council, I have found there is an oppotunity to be flexible here to ensure that we get what we want and therefore that it will be used.

A first comment has already been made, in that rather than 2 Football Pitches, could one of them be a Rugby Pitch. From The Developers point of view, that is easy because it’s just a different set of posts and different markings. But this is another opportunity for us to influence the development of our community, so if you have any other ideas for what you would like to see on the main area either post them below to generate discussion, or feel free to email me your thoughts at mrbpkirby@hotmail.com

Aparently a “Pitch and Putt” or “Frisbee Golf” may not be too popular (though I don’t know), and a Snowdome is a bit too pricey…

What do you think?

Cheers

Active SARA Plan

Friday, December 17th, 2010 by Barry Kirby

AS an update to my earlier post regarding SARA planning (here), I am pleased to be able to report that the SARA plan is now up and running.
There have been 3 areas identified for the plan to be based on, these are:

  • Speeding
  • Anti Social Behavour in the Big and Little Parks
  • Garden Thefts

These were chosen from a combination of the highlighed issues and the police figures.

In the short term, the Police will be monitoring vehicle speed on Kingsway to get some metrics against and therefore set a target, we will be using the recorded incidents of ASB at the parks to determine what target it should be and we will be encouraging people to report incidents of things like garden thefts as I know it has happened, but there are currently no figures within the police system.

This will be reviewed monthly by the Association in terms of what has happened and the figures, and then every 3 months. The areas themselves will be reviewed to see if there is a more approporiate problem to focus on.

I hope that this SARA plan has a positive effect here as it seems to have done in other areas, however that will become evident as the plan progresses.

I think there are two main things everyone can do to help this.
Firstly please make sure you report all crime. It’s harder to see what to focus on without the logs.
Secondly if you have any good ideas how we can reduce the crime happening in the first place, then do share it.

Cheers

Newsletters & Magazines

Thursday, December 9th, 2010 by chumly

Neighbourhood Watch Newsletter
While I appreciate the information that the newsletter delivered to our door gives, I really don’t think that being delivered at around half 10 at night is very sociable! Woke up everyone in my house!

Magazines
Does anyone else take the time to leave magazines like Avon etc out to be collected and then they are not picked up?
I think if we take the time to leave them out the the person who delivered them should pick them up and not have them become waste\litter.

Missing Tabby Cat

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010 by Bushy

Our cat Scruffy, went missing Sunday afternoon (05/12/10).

She is a long haired grey smoke tabby. She is quite timid and not a great explorer, normally preferring the indoor life.

This is very out of character for her, she is never normally that far from her next meal, (can be a scrounger)!

An odd identifying feature she has is long dark fur on the bottom of her feet!

She went missing around Chivenor Way.

Any help, sightings would be greatly appreciated.

We have walked Kingsway calling her to no avail.

Family are missing her greatly, any comments appreciated, photos available…

Many thanks for reading.
Emma & Chris
