Parking Restrictions

Thursday, July 29th, 2010 by Clive

Attention Kingsway Village: Important Notice

Following the Residents Association Meeting on 14th May 2010, I reported that Andy Smith (QUVL Project Manager) said:

the QUVL plans to examine all the roads and have the double-yellow lines repainted so that they’re clearly visible

Andy has been in touch recently and said:

Yellow Lines will be done on 4th, 5th & 6th of August.

We will have CPS enforcement on site who will temporarily lift any cars out of the way to enable the lining, and replace them afterwards…

It would be a great help if people didn’t park in Thatcham Ave and Valley Gardens on these dates to mimimise any “Where has my car gone?” questions.

I will pass the word along to my neighbours and recommend that everybody takes this advice… the fewer cars there are, the quicker the job will be done!

Before anyone asks: I don’t know the exact plans… We’ll have to wait & see :!:

Unclaimed Raffle Prize

Thursday, July 29th, 2010 by social secretary

I wonder if anyone can help?

Since The Big Lunch on the July 18th, I have been trying to contact a raffle winner.
I have a prize sat here waiting for this person to claim.
I have tried to ring the number on the ticket on several occasions but I never get through, just a dead line.
The ticket number is 59 (so it would have been bought earlier on in the day) and the name on the ticket is Katie.
Please make contact via this website to claim the prize.
If it is not claimed by Thursday 19th August, it will be re-raffled at the open meeting on Fri 20th.

Thanks,
Social Secretary

Kingsway Truck Stop

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 by Paul

Am I the only one who is getting fed up seeing lorries parked in the blocked off road, next to the roundabout, most evenings when we enter the village?

Call me overly concerned, but I feel that having lorries parked up, potentially full of goods can only attract the criminal element to Kingsway. This is certainly a reputation that the RA is trying to get rid of.

It won’t take too long for the undesirables to spot these vehicles being left on a regular basis.  I also don’t think it was the replacement ornament to the roundabout we were looking for to welcome people to the village.

I’m guessing the driver is a local resident, who possibly gets up early to go out delivering.  As someone who is not the best at crawling out of bed in the morning I fully appreciate that every extra minute in my nice warm bed counts.  However what started as one lorry has this evening turned in to two.

If that then wasn’t enough it seems to have attracted a rather shabby looking van that seems to have been abandoned on the grass, which is being used for a local garage to advertise their wares.

Does anyone know if QUVL can do anything to stop the advertising at the very least, if not politely ask the lorry driver(s) to move on?

This isn’t meant to be a personal attack on the driver(s) of the lorries, as an ex-driver myself I know how difficult it is to find a quiet and safe spot to stop.  I’m just not sure that Kingsway is the most appropriate place.

Older Mum Looking For Friends

Saturday, July 17th, 2010 by suzybear

Hi,

I’m a new resident to Kingsway. I’ve been here for 6 weeks, having spent the last 3-years-plus in New Zealand.

We have a 2yr 6mth old and I am finding it hard to meet people with similar aged toddlers!

When I say I’m older, I’m only 45 so not quite so geriatric as this post might seem to indicate!

My attitude is that you are as old as the man you feel and my husband is only 34!

I would love to hear from anyone that has a similar aged toddler and would like to meet up.

Accident Waiting to Happen

Saturday, July 10th, 2010 by sam-den

Does anybody else have a problem with the building materials being stored at the top of Thatcham ave? None of it is fenced off safely, and it is quickly becoming a childrens playground!

My husband has been on to QUVL, who told him that it is Persimmon Homes who are using the land, and they have been asked twice to move their materials!

We believe this is "an accident waiting to happen" and something has to be done to get it all moved to a safer area where it should be, before a child is seriously hurt.

Editors Note: Following the discussion (below) KEVGEE furnished me with a set of "Before & After Pic’s" which I’ve included in this gallery: Persimmon Building Site
