The Youth Miss Out Again!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009 by A Youth

I was told last week, that the POD for Kingsway was well on its way to being installed next to the School… Hooray at last somewhere we can go in the evenings.

Now I have been told that the Developers have now pulled the plug on the site again.

What must we do?

We need somewhere to go in our area… Kingsway!

If anything happens on the site, we the (teenagers) get the blame, and are labelled with anti-social behaviour.

Come on Developers, we need this!

Further Development

It seems the development is moving on. The planning applications are in tomorrow for the local centre. I had the joy of being interviewed and photo taken about it which appeared in the paper today… already been told I look rather dazed, which is maybe unsurprising as our Son was born about 24 hours earlier and I was on about 4 hours sleep :)

I have spent a good deal of time yesterday and today walking around the village with the pushchair and it is obvious that the builders are moving ahead, thus you could infer that people are buying houses again. Take from that what you will I guess, I see it as a good sign.

It was also really good to see both parks being so popular and the kids enjoying the decent weather. I’m looking forward to getting the local shops and stuff as I think the place will really start to feel more like a community rather than a cluster of houses.

Street Lights

Monday, April 6th, 2009 by ceejaytee1979

I have been living in Kingsway now for 16 months, and the one major problem that has annoyed me since moving in is the street light outside our home.

Living at the end of a cul de sac the one and only street light there has never been in operation since put up, and the trouble myself and neighbours have had in order to get this rectified is unbelievable!

According to the people who have looked at it, the light has no cable connecting it and that particular part of the light is not their responsibility, and a different team need to deal with it! They come out and say that it is the responsibility of another team and round and round we go!

It is hard to understand the trouble they are having with hundreds of working lights on the estate, why the correct team cannot come out and do what should have been done in the first place.

At a cost from our own pockets we have all had to install sensor lights to help see where we are going and believe me it is pitch black. This was to benefit people parking their cars and in order to assist our neighbour houses see where they are going, with many having small children.

Does anyone have any further way forward that they can think to get this sorted along with all the other lights on the estate not working. With this and all the uneven roads around, the matter needs to be sorted before there are some serious incidents.
